Nobody announces your professional death

They just schedule the meeting for half three and forget to send you the calendar invite.

Then they solve the problem you spent twenty years learning how to handle, but solve it badly, with three extra steps and a consultant no one needed.

And when you mention you could have saved them the trouble, they smile. They nod. They say that's really helpful.

Then they do nothing.

Because the invitation wasn't actually an invitation. It was a courtesy. A kindness offered to someone whose functional role has already been reassigned to a box marked 'legacy knowledge' that nobody opens.

You're not dismissed. You're archived.

And archives don't get consulted. They get respected from a distance.
